and Design
Aubrie Hazlewood
His work is the shift between standard typography, and actual artwork itself. His style is often considered to be experimental and also abstract, offering bold letter forms that sometimes seem to come off of the page itself. He often favours the use of grids within his artwork, typically within the letter forms and they are often stretched or manipulated to create beautiful pieces of art.
To add to his skills in transforming letter forms into unique pieces of art, he also incorporates 4D experiences within his typographical work. The moving letters offer an extra expressive quality that further draws the viewers eye and helps the letter form interact dynamically with the space.
Even though Delgado has a very experimental approach with his letter form artwork, his use of grids is very analytical- almost mathematical. He uses these grids to blur the line between neatness and messiness which further enhances the dynamic appearance of the artwork.
Sergio Delgado has immense influence within the typography community as an experimental and “unconventional” artist. What he designs encourages critics and typographers alike to expand on what they think typography could be and how they can implement that same creativity in their day to day lives. Overall, Delgado’s influence comes from his ability to expand the boundaries of typography, inspiring designers to see type not just as text, but as a versatile and expressive artistic medium.
