Sergi Delgado utilizes mathematics found within nature to be able to create his works. He typically bases his work around optical illusions and psychedelic graphics to enhance his typography. He often participates in the 35 days of type challenge to further incorporate his style. Sergi Delgado has also designed the poster for the Sitges international film festival found in Barcelona in 2022
He often builds his typefaces and pieces of art around the idea of mathematics and optical illusions. By using mathematical-like graphs his artworks become dynamic and almost pop out of the page as if they are actually moving. The patterns within his letterforms are often geometric and symmetrical in nature, and his letters become almost psychedelic.
He regularly participated in the 36 days of type challenge and with each new challenge, his styles changed and improved. He uses this challenge as a way to challenge what typography can be, and by doing this he creates beautiful, unique artwork that is original to only him.
Sergio Delgado's artwork is heavily reliant on the use of mathematical graphs and using perception as a way to portray his art. his use of mathematical graphs make his artwork become more dynamic and it feels like it is moving within the page.
The largest contribution that this artist and typographer has made is that he has made known that using mathematical interior structures can still result in something expressive and dynamic. By incorporating these graphs within his typefaces and personal works of art, he has shown many people that typography does not equal traditional readability.
He shows that letters and words don't necessarily mean communication, but also as a tool for visual expression. Delgado has redefined how designers view type and has shown different ways people can approach typography as an artform, while still using analytical techniques.
