Welcome

Welcome!

Welcome to the CPR training course! We are so glad to welcome you to our online training module.

To begin, we will learn about the steps and techniques that go along with it.

Throughout the module, there will be check-in questions to make sure information is being absorbed properly. Finally, there will be a quiz at the end to test your knowledge.

Check Responsiveness

Check Responsiveness

Verify the scene is safe. Check for responsiveness by tapping the shoulders and shouting. Simultaneously scan the chest for breathing and palpate the carotid pulse for no less than 5 but no mare than 10 seconds.

Check for a carotid pulse simultaneously. If there is no pulse or breathing, begin CPR immediately.

Check-in

Drag and drop your answer into the light blue box.

How long do you assess a person's pulse?

5-10 seconds
20-25 seconds
1-7 seconds
Call Emergency Services

Call Emergency Services

If the person is unresponsive and has no pulse (or is only gasping), immediately activate the emergency response system and send a specific bystander to retrieve the AED.

Check-in

Drag and drop your answer into the light blue box.

What is one critical fail step before beginning to provide compressions?

Drop answer here
Hands are positioned too low.
Hands are positioned too high.
Improper finger interlocking.
Performing Compressions

Performing Compressions

Deliver compressions at a rate of 100-120 BPM and at a depth of 2-2.4 inches (5-6cm). Ensure full chest recoil after each compression.

Common mistake: Inadequate compression depth.

Critical Fail: Pausing compressions for more than 10 seconds.

Check-in 1/2

Drag and drop your answer into the light blue box.

Along with having proper form and allowing chest recoil, how deep should chest compressions be?

Drop answer here
0.5-1 inch
5-7 inches
2.0-2.4 inches

Check-in 2/2

Drag and drop your answer into the light blue box.

What should you NEVER do when giving chest compressions?

Drop answer here
Pause compressions
Give mouth-to-mouth
Call 911
Open The Airway

Open The Airway

Perform a head tilt/chin lift maneuver to open the airway (use jaw thrust maneuver if cervical spine injury is suspected). Make sure the airway is clear of foreign objects or secretions.

Deliver Rescue Breaths

Deliver Rescue Breaths

Using a barrier device (e.g. Bag-Valve-Mask or Pocket Mask), deliver 2 rescue breaths. Each breath should last approximately 1 second and provide in enough volume to result in visible chest rise.

Cycle 30 compressions per 2 breaths and keep interruptions to less than 10 seconds.

Common Mistake: Excessive ventilation

Check-in

Drag and drop your answer into the light blue box.

What is one common mistake that happens when delivering rescue breaths?

Drop answer here
Excessive ventilation
Smelling their breath
Not using protection
Repeat

Repeat

After 5 cycles, reassess the rhythm and pulse (approximately 2 minutes). If multiple providers are present, switch roles to prevent compressor fatigue and maintain compression quality.
